La Serena Golf Course - The Front 9 at La Serena Golf & Beach Resort

Located 10-15 minutes away from Roda Golf Resort is the outstanding La Serena golf course designed by the former Ryder Cup player and World Cup Champion, Manuel Pinero. The course featuring 18 holes, par 72 over 6168 metres is not overly long but consists of a more traditional structure. With the Mar Menor right next to the golf course, the many water hazards found in 16 of the 18 holes are quite apt to the surrounding scenery.

Golf Course Description
La Serena golf course Hole 1: Par 5 - 494 metres
From the point of tee off over the first hole at La Serena, you will encounter an out of bounds area to the left on the fairly generous fairway. With a lot of water to the right hand side golfers will be required to cake care getting onto the fairway. Your second shot from the fairway will require a long stroke to reach the green, making sure players avoid the water along the right of the green. To encourage players not to stray too far to the left are 4 large bunkers along with an out of bounds area close by. With large greens it is a nice way to finish the first hole of the course.

La Serena golf course Hole 2: Par 4 - 331metres
Spanning over 331 metres is this second hole at par 4. Facing a dog leg right, golfers will be accompanied by water all the way down the right hand side. Golfers must stay alert as 16 out of 18 holes involve water hazards. The long thin green found at the end of the hole is well guarded by a substantial bunker to the left.

La Serena golf course Hole 3: Par 3 - 170 metres
This is the first par 3 of the course at La Serena. From the tee off area players should carry the ball across the water over 150 metres to a fairly large size green. The less confident and amateur players may prefer a different route to the green by taking a shot to the left, making the carry over the water shorter. Players will have to remember that at par 3, every shot on target is essential.

La Serena golf course Hole 4: Par 4 - 356 metres
Players will start this par 4 hole straight in front of a lake at tee off. To reach the fairway, golfers will play across the corner to the narrow fairway. This is the first hole of the course at La Serena where to the right you will come across desert terrain that is made up of sand and gravel. It is not too difficult to play off it but is recommended to try and stay clear to avoid any unnecessary trouble. Reaching the green from the fairway will not be a problem to the golfer as the hole is not long at 356metres. Once over the lake at the tee, you will discover a generous fairway leading up to the green that can be reached in 2 strokes.

La Serena golf course Hole 5: Par 4 - 360 metres
Found at the other side of the previous fourth hole, it is very similar again to the previous hole except you will discover a lake to the right and front of the green. Golfers will find this a great example of a driving hole due to the bunkers and water are mainly out of reach for most. Once you reach the green from the fairway, defending your move are the bunkers situated.

La Serena golf course Hole 6: Par 4 - 301metres
Regarded as being the easiest hole at La Serena, golfers will be able to enjoy the short par 4 over just 301 metres. A straight tee shot is required to surpass the water on the right and an out of bounds area to the left hand side of the fairway. Once you reach the narrow fairway you will be able to take straight shots up to the green to try and successfully achieve par.

La Serena golf course Hole 7: Par 5 - 442 metres
Taking you on an alternating direction, this hole leads you up to the club house at La Serena, where after completed you will not be too far from the next hole the other side. Par 5 featuring 442 metres gives golfers a great chance of a birdie. The nice wide fairways along with bunkers to the left and right, even if at 200 metres you inaccurately play into them, you can recover onto the fairway at ease. There is no other way onto the green than across water, but careful not to go too long or you will reach the bunker protecting the back of the green.

La Serena golf course Hole 8: Par 4 - 382 metres
Hole 8 is found the other side of the club house, behind the practice area. Once you reach the hole, you will be greeted by a partial dessert terrain to the right of the tee. This long par of 4 over 382 metres requires a long second shot onto the wide fairway for any chances of meeting par. Water is found on the right of the fairway and is recommended that only the more confident golfers try to take the green in only 2 shots. An easier path to the green is by staying to the left hand side, taking three shots to ensure the golf ball clears over the water.

La Serena golf course Hole 9: Par 3 - 157 metres
Featuring two lakes this par 3 at 157 metres is a perfect way to conclude the first nine holes at La Serena. The water on the left is found all the way to and beyond the green itself, tricky in the wind but with a large green at the end of the hole, there is no need to worry over the daunting water hazards along the way.
